Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike (DVLM), who in the last year alone have had two No. 1 hits on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs Chart, have created HANS ZIMMER VS DIMITRI VEGAS & LIKE MIKE ‘HE’S A PIRATE’, which is the sole bonus track on the upcoming digital version of the soundtrack for PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEADMEN TELL NO TALES, set for release on Walt Disney Records on May 26.
The track is a re-record of Zimmer’s theme that is ubiquitous in all the Pirates’ films, and gives the track a DVLM edge that can bring it right onto dancefloors worldwide. Disney execs, who had previously worked with DVLM when Dimitri voiced the character of ‘Fred’ in Big Hero Six, came to them with the idea for the track.
The Belgium-born Thivaios brothers have expanded globally as a top-draw live act after conquering Europe over the last decade. As recording artists, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike made their way to the top of Billboard’s Dance Club Songs chart in 2016 when ‘Higher Place’ featuring Ne-Yo went No. 1. Later that year, they released ‘Hey Baby’ vs. Diplo featuring Deb’s Daughter, which became their second No. 1.
The International Dance Music Awards crowned them as ‘Best European DJs’ in 2014, 2015 and 2016 and they have been ranked No. 1 on the prestigious DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs Poll. Multiple tracks of theirs have received more than 30 million streams on Spotify. They continue to expand their audience in the States with sold-out performances in New York, Las Vegas, Miami, Atlanta and Los Angeles. In Belgium, their 2015 ‘Bringing The Madness 3.0’ shows sold out in under 40 minutes, a feat managed previously only by international superstars such as U2, Madonna, Beyoncé and Michael Jackson.
Coldplay & Chainsmokers tapped the brothers to remix their ‘Something Just Like This’ as well as Lady Gaga for her ‘Marry The Night’, and the duo has worked on records by Jennifer Lopez, Pitbull, Snoop Dogg, Sean Paul and many others.
